Message from Mrs. Barrio

Amberlea Families:

Welcome Back! It’s hard to believe it’s time for school to start back up again! We hope everyone had a fun-filled summer and is ready for an OUTSTANDING 22-23 school year! We are SUPER excited to be starting the school year maintaining good health and safety procedures we have learned through our experiences over the past couple of years! If there is anything we can do to support you or your children please reach out to our office. We look forward to an amazing school year, continuing to work collaboratively in ensuring our students are proficient at their grade levels while meeting their social and emotional needs!

Back to School

Closed Campus: Following former safety policies, all Pendergast schools will continue to have “closed campuses,” meaning that parents must show their picture IDs, sign in, and get a visitor’s badge to come onto campus for any reason

For Kindergarten Parents: We will have a “Tears and Cheers” meet and greet in the library from 8:00 to 8:30 AM, on the first day of school, where kinder parents can have a pastry, and meet other kinder parents, and meet the PTA Officers and Principals.

Amberlea Missed You!

Attendance: Attendance is one of the HIGHEST indicators of student success at school. It is crucial that your child attends school every day—unless they have a fever, are throwing up, or have tested positive for Covid or other contagious illnesses. School attendance is not optional and we need our students here, on time, each day to ensure they are on track with their current grade level proficiency. We are continuing to work hard to fill learning gaps created by the Covid pandemic and we want ALL our students to meet or exceed grade-level standards by the end of the 22-23 school year! We can only accomplish this if our students come to school, on time, each day and are ready to learn by participating and doing their best work every day! :-)

Updates & Reminders

School Hours: Just a reminder that our front gates open at 7:55 AM and the bell for school to begin rings at 8:10 AM. Please make sure your students arrive BY 8:10 AM and are in their classrooms ready to hear morning instructions. We do not have staff available to supervise students before 7:55 AM so we ask that parents do not drop off or send students to school early.

Breakfast in the Classroom: As usual, we will be serving a no-cost breakfast in the classroom from 7:55 to 8:10 for all students interested. School dismisses at 3:10 PM every day except for Wednesdays. Every Wednesday is an early release day (except for the first day of school), where students are dismissed at 12:40.
